With an increasingly globalised and multicultural society, universities and institutions around the world are looking for opportunities to provide an international study experience as part of their student course offerings.

The Study Abroad Program (Inbound) is a short-term non-award course that allows overseas students to undertake eligible undergraduate or postgraduate subjects at AIHE, provided subject prerequisites are met, and receive credit towards their home degree.

The program is designed for students currently enrolled in degree courses overseas, as well as overseas students otherwise qualified to enrol at the relevant study level.

Students gain an immersive Australian study experience that can help develop intercultural competencies and support their future professional careers.

Entry Requirements

Are you eligible for the Study Abroad Program?

Applicants must meet the academic requirements for the subjects they propose to study and, where applicable, AIHE's English language requirements.

Academic Requirements

  • Have completed at least 6 months of full-time study in a qualification at an equivalent AQF level or higher than the AIHE subjects to be undertaken, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 out of 7 or equivalent; or
  • Meet the entry criteria for an AIHE course in which the proposed subjects are available for study.
  • International equivalences are assessed individually and may depend on the duration, institution and country of current study or degree awarded.

English Language Requirements

  • Applicants whose native language is not English must satisfy AIHE's English language requirements.
  • IELTS Academic: overall score of 6.0 with no band below 6.0, or an accepted equivalent.
  • Other accepted English language evidence and pathways are detailed in AIHE's current Admissions Criteria.

International applicants: applicants must meet the Australian Government requirements relevant to a Student visa (subclass 500). International students enrolled in the Study Abroad Program are required to undertake full-time study.

AIHE offers undergraduate and postgraduate subjects throughout the year. Study Abroad applicants may select eligible subjects from the available course offerings, provided prerequisites are met and the subjects are offered during the applicant's intended study period.

Participate in seminars, lectures, case studies, group activities and practical support sessions.

Diverse Assessment

Assessment may include individual and group assignments, exams, tests, role plays, quizzes, presentations and participation.

Credit & RPL

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning may be available on application where relevant requirements are met.
