Committee composition
Academic appeals are chaired by the Head of School. Non-academic and administrative appeals are chaired by the General Manager. Two staff members who were not involved in the original decision are appointed to the Committee.

Overview
Independent consideration of eligible student appeals
The Student Appeals Committee considers eligible appeals lodged by students following the outcome of AIHE’s formal complaint process. The Committee forms part of AIHE’s internal student grievances, complaints and appeals framework.
A Student Appeals Committee is generally constituted for an individual appeal. Its members must not have been involved in the original decision being appealed, helping support procedural fairness and an impartial review process.
Appeal consideration
The Committee considers the appeal documentation and gives the student and the person against whom the appeal is made an opportunity to present their case.
Possible outcomes
The Committee may affirm the decision, vary the decision, or set the decision aside and make another decision in substitution. It may also identify corrective or preventative actions for AIHE.
