Admissions & Enrolment

01 How do I apply for admission to AIHE?

You can start with AIHE’s How to Apply page. Review the application steps, entry requirements and documents needed for your chosen course before submitting your application.

02 What are the entry requirements for domestic students?

Domestic entry requirements depend on the course and admission pathway. Review the current Admissions Criteria. Course-specific requirements also apply, including the minimum age requirements published by AIHE.

03 What are the entry requirements for international students?

International applicants must meet the academic requirements for their chosen course and, where applicable, AIHE’s English language requirements. Refer to the current Admissions Criteria for accepted qualifications, English evidence and alternative pathways.

04 Is there an orientation program for new students?

Yes. Orientation is provided for commencing students before classes begin. Check Important Dates and Timetables for the relevant study period and plan to be available for orientation and the start of classes.

05 Can I defer my admission?

You may apply to defer commencement using AIHE’s formal deferment process. Deferment can have academic, financial and, for international students, visa implications. Review Changes to Your Enrolment, the Policy and Procedure Directory and contact Student Services before making arrangements.

Fees & Financial Support

06 What is the refund policy for tuition fees?

Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances and timing of the request. Review Fees and Payments and the Fees and Refund Policy and Procedure in the Policy and Procedure Directory.

07 Can I pay my fees over the phone?

Use the payment methods shown on your AIHE invoice and the current Fees and Payments information. If you need clarification, contact the Finance Team at finance@aihe.sa.edu.au or call +61 8 8470 0156.

08 Can I get a fee payment installment plan?

Payment arrangements may be available in eligible circumstances. Contact the Finance Team before the relevant due date to discuss options that may apply to your account. See Fees and Payments for current information.

09 How can I schedule a call with the Finance Team?

Email finance@aihe.sa.edu.au with your name, student ID if applicable, preferred phone number and a suitable time. The Finance Team can advise on availability.

Course Changes & Credit

10 Can I apply for credits for previous studies?

Yes. Eligible applicants and students can apply for credit based on previous study or recognised prior learning. Review Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning and submit the required evidence.

11 What is the maximum number of units of credit I can receive?

The amount of credit that can be granted depends on the course, equivalence of prior learning and the limits in AIHE’s Credit and RPL requirements. Applications are assessed individually. See Credit Transfer and RPL.

12 Can I change my course after enrolment?

Changes to your course or enrolment are subject to approval and can have academic and financial consequences. International students may also have visa implications. Review Changes to Your Enrolment and contact Student Services before making a change.

13 Can I change my course specialization?

You may request a specialisation or minor change where permitted by the course structure. Submit the relevant request before the applicable census date and obtain course advice. Check Student Forms for the current form.

14 Can I change my campus?

Yes, a campus transfer may be requested and is subject to approval, course availability and timetable capacity. Use the Campus Transfer Form available from Student Forms. International students should also discuss any implications with Student Services.

15 Can I change my education agent?

A change of education agent is managed under AIHE’s Education Agent Policy and Procedure. Contact AIHE at info@aihe.sa.edu.au and refer to the Policy and Procedure Directory.

International Students

16 When can I arrive in Australia after my visa is granted?

Plan to arrive in enough time to attend orientation and commence classes on the published date. Check Important Dates and Timetables before booking travel and make sure your travel is consistent with your visa and Confirmation of Enrolment.

17 Can I travel offshore during my study period?

International students can travel outside Australia, but travel should not interfere with classes, assessments, course progress or visa obligations. Before travelling during a teaching period, discuss your circumstances with Student Services and review Information for International Students.

18 How can I get an invitation letter to invite my parents to Australia?

Contact Student Services at info@aihe.sa.edu.au and explain the type of supporting letter you require, who it is for and any relevant deadline. AIHE will advise what information is needed.

19 I need mental health support. What options are available?

AIHE provides student support for personal circumstances that may affect study and can provide information or referrals to relevant services. Visit Student Support or speak with Student Services.

20 My visa is expiring. Who can help me?

AIHE can assist with study-related information and institutional documents. For personal visa or migration advice, use the Department of Home Affairs or a registered migration agent. Contact AIHE at info@aihe.sa.edu.au for enrolment-related support.

Academic Life & Study Load

21 Can I get academic support for my subjects?

Yes. AIHE provides academic and study support, including lecturer consultation and learning support. Visit Student Support or use the Student Portal for current resources.

22 I want to take a study break. How can I do this?

Apply for Leave of Absence using the current form available through Student Forms. Approval is subject to AIHE’s enrolment requirements. International students on a student visa may only take leave in circumstances permitted under the applicable international student requirements, including compassionate or compelling grounds where required.

23 I want to underload (reduce) my study load. Is that possible?

A reduced study load may be possible depending on your course plan and approval requirements. International students must continue to comply with the study load and course-duration requirements relevant to their enrolment. Discuss any proposed underload with Student Services before changing enrolment and review Changes to Your Enrolment.

24 I want to overload (take extra) units. What is the process?

An overload may be considered where it is academically appropriate and consistent with course rules, prerequisites, subject availability and approval requirements. Seek course advice before enrolling in additional subjects.

25 Can I study online as an international student?

International students should not assume they can complete their course fully online. Student visa holders must meet the delivery-mode, study load, course progress and face-to-face requirements that apply to their CRICOS enrolment. Check current subject delivery and discuss your study plan with AIHE before enrolling in online or external study.

IT & Student Systems

26 How can I contact the IT department for my login issues?

Email IT support at it@aihe.sa.edu.au and include your student ID, the system you are trying to access and a clear description of the problem.

27 I’m having issues with Canvas or email. What should I do?

Contact it@aihe.sa.edu.au and include screenshots where useful, your device or browser and a description of the issue. You can also check the Student Portal.

28 I can’t log in. My username or password aren’t working. What should I do?

Use the available “Forgot Password” option where applicable. If access still fails, email it@aihe.sa.edu.au with your student ID. Never send your password by email.

29 How do I get my username and password as a new student?

Access details are issued as part of the enrolment and commencement process. Check the email address registered with AIHE. If you have completed enrolment and have not received your access details, contact Student Services or IT support.

30 Where can I find my course planner?

Course planning information is available through AIHE student systems and academic advice. Check the Student Portal or contact your academic adviser or Student Services if you need help identifying the correct subjects and sequence.

31 How do I request an enrolment letter or holiday letter?

Use the appropriate request process for official student documents. Start with Student Forms or contact Student Services if you are unsure which request applies.

32 I need a reference letter or invitation letter from AIHE. How do I request one?

Contact Student Services and provide the purpose of the letter, the information you need included and your deadline. Use info@aihe.sa.edu.au if you are unsure which team should handle your request.

33 How do I get a transcript or statement of results?

Current students should first check the Student Portal and available academic-record services. If you are no longer enrolled or cannot access the relevant service, contact Student Services.

Withdrawal, Transfer & Visa

34 I’ve completed 6 months at AIHE. Can I transfer to another provider?

For international students, the transfer restriction that applies during the first six calendar months of the principal course no longer applies after that period has been completed. You should still follow AIHE’s enrolment and withdrawal process and notify AIHE before changing provider. See Changes to Your Enrolment and the International Students Procedure.

35 I don’t want to study anymore and want to return home permanently. What should I do?

Do not simply stop attending classes. Submit the Course Withdrawal Form through Student Forms and speak with AIHE about the academic, financial and enrolment consequences. For international students, changes to enrolment may affect the CoE and visa arrangements.

36 Can I apply for a release before completing 6 months?

Yes. An international student may request a transfer before completing six calendar months of the principal course, but approval is subject to the requirements and evidence set out in AIHE’s International Students Procedure and the ESOS transfer rules. Review Changes to Your Enrolment before applying.

37 Can I get help extending or renewing my visa?

AIHE can provide study-related information and institutional documents. Personal migration advice should come from the Department of Home Affairs or a registered migration agent. Contact Student Services if you need AIHE documents relating to your enrolment.

Progress, Assessment & Graduation

38 How do I monitor my academic progress?

Use the Student Portal to review results and course information, and seek academic advice if you are unsure about your progress. AIHE also monitors academic progress under its Academic Progress, Enrolment and Graduation requirements. See Academic Progress.

39 What happens if I fail a unit?

You may need to repeat the subject or adjust your study plan, depending on course rules and subject sequencing. AIHE monitors academic progress and may put support or intervention strategies in place where progress is at risk. See Academic Progress.

40 How do I get my exam timetable?

Check the Student Portal and Important Dates and Timetables. Students are responsible for checking examination details and being available for scheduled assessments. See also Examinations.

41 Can I request a re-mark or appeal an exam result?

AIHE provides formal review and appeal processes. The correct process depends on whether you are seeking a remark or appealing a decision. Start with Assessment, check Student Forms for the Remark Request or Student Notice of Appeal forms, and submit requests within the required timeframe.

42 When and how do I apply for graduation?

Conferral occurs once AIHE confirms that you have met the requirements of your award. Eligible students are then able to graduate in accordance with AIHE’s conferral and graduation requirements. See Conferral and Graduation for current information.

Attendance & Timetables

43 What is the minimum attendance requirement?

AIHE expects students to attend classes and takes attendance records. Some practical and in-class activities require attendance. International students must also meet the attendance, course progress and enrolment requirements that apply to their studies and visa. See Class Attendance and Absence.

44 How do I request a timetable or class change?

Contact Student Services with the class or timetable change you are requesting. Approval depends on subject availability, class capacity, your course plan and enrolment requirements. Check Important Dates and Timetables first.

45 Can I study part-time?

Part-time study may be available to eligible domestic students depending on the course. International students on a student visa must comply with the study load and course-duration requirements attached to their enrolment and should obtain approval before reducing their load.

46 Can I study during the summer semester?

AIHE may schedule selected subjects outside standard study periods. Availability can change by year, campus and course. Check Important Dates and Timetables and obtain course advice before planning additional study.

47 How do I find out which units I must complete next?

Follow your approved course structure and course planner, including prerequisites and sequencing requirements. If you are unsure, use the Student Portal and consult your academic adviser or Student Services before enrolling.

48 What happens if I breach academic integrity policies?

Academic integrity concerns are managed under AIHE’s Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure, Student Code of Conduct and Student Misconduct Procedure. Outcomes depend on the nature and seriousness of the matter. Review Academic Integrity and the Policy and Procedure Directory.
